Maternity Session in Oak Ridge, NC
I recently had the wonderful opportunity to capture these epic maternity photos for Lacy + Dan, alongside the amazing Lauren Ashleigh. It's always so fun to work with other creatives!
The moody vibe of this session is everything. We kept our eyes on the weather leading up to the session and when we saw rain in the forecast we
talked about rescheduling, but we decided we wanted to just go with it, and I am so happy we did. The rainy atmosphere was the perfect compliment to the woodsy location. My philosophy is unless it's dangerous DON'T reschedule your session for inclement weather. This was just another example, among many, of how rainy weather can still yield amazing photos!
Some of the numerous benefits of cloudy conditions are:
Softer lighting - no need to worry about harsh shadows that can be unflattering or directional light limiting which spots to shoot and and which direction you can face for optimal lighting.
Colors pop - often colors come out looking more vibrant in cloudy lighting.
Locations are often less busy - if you tough it out while most other people reschedule, you may have the place to yourself which is great for more popular locations that sometimes can get crowded.
THE VIBES - I don't know about you but I love the look atmospheric look of a dramatic sky or the feels of a rainy session - it gives me all the rom-com, dancing in the rain feels.
PLUS I was also so happy to see my newest client closet dress in action - that cream lace gown is so stunning and was even more beautiful on Lacy than I could have imagined!
